Carat marks the weight of a gemstone. 1 carat has 200 milligrams.
Although carat is a measure of a diamonds weight it may not accurately reflect a diamonds size. Once again the cut is responsible for the appearance. The surface should be lavish and the carat may not be hidden in the base of the diamond. The simple reason therefor is: we tend to evaluate a diamonds size by viewing it from the top.

The less color a diamond has and the whiter it is - the worthier it is. The scale starts at D (bright white) and ends with Z (light yellow or brown). D-F categorizes the colorless stones, but even G-I diamonds have no noticeable color to the unaided eye. We recommend choosing a G-I when looking for an excellent value. Of course there are luxurious exceptions: the bright and colorful so called fancy diamonds! They seduce with intensive colors like canary yellow or bright red. Only about one of 100 000 diamonds is allowed to bear this name.

Color

The cut is a diamonds most important characteristic. It’s about a lot more than the pure shape of the stone. The cut determines the sparkle and has the greatest influence on the appearance of your piece of jewelry. It’s the objective measure of a diamond's light performance. Ideal means the perfect reflection of the light. Select the highest cut grade within your budget – it’s worth it!

Cut

Clarity measures the number and size of the tiny imperfections that occur in almost all diamonds. There are 11 clarity grades which start with flawless (FL). Flawless means the diamond has no visible includes or blemishes. Flawless and internally flawless stones are very rare and very expensive. The scale ends at I3: a stone like that comes with inclusions obvious to the naked eye. But most inclusions are very small. Usually even SI classified stones come with inclusions which are not visible to the unaided eye Therefore they can only be seen under magnification. Those Eye-clean diamonds are much less expensive than the FL or the IF.

Clarity

A polished diamond’s proportions affect its light performance. The polish is important for the diamonds beauty and overall appeal. We recommend to only buying diamonds with excellent or very good symmetry polish!

Polish

The diamonds symmetry influences the light performance and depends again on the cut. The attributes of evaluating the symmetry are the position of the table towards the culet, the size and the regularity of facettes, girdle and culet. We recommend only buying diamonds with excellent or very good symmetry grades!
